AlhóndigaBilbao – 43 Columns scene in Bilbao
Project 43 columns by Lorenzo Baraldi done within the cultural center AlhóndigaBilbao designed by Philippe Starck.
This is the story of 43 columns designed by Philippe Starck for his most important architectural project, AlhóndigaBilbao, the new cultural center of the basque city. The designer wants 43 unique pieces to represent the cultures of all the world.
Starck calls the production designer Lorenzo Baraldi to design the columns and look for master craftsmen able to model them in bronze, steel, Carrara’s marble, terracotta, bricks, wood, concrete and Lecce’s stone.
Baraldi finds eight laboratories in Italy and Spain that take up the challenge. In a few months, the columns must be completed, delivered and installed in Bilbao where they will be admired by visitors coming from all over the world.
